A couple of weeks ago I demoed the Lewitt MTP 440 DM which is an inexpensive dynamic microphone and I recorded a bunch of guitars and basses.
Have you ever recorded a song with someone half way across the world?
We recently recorded a song with our good friend Gordon McNeil (located in Highlands of Scotland) and the incredibly talented Steve Maggiora (In Los Angeles) on Vocals. I also play some guitars & bass on the track!
The technology today allows us to collaborate with artists & friends all over the globe effortlessly!
We did a whole bunch of vocals using the Lewitt MTP 440 DM with our friend Mr. Steve Maggiora and our very good friend Gordon McNeil (the former drummer for both the Queen Extravaganza and Gun) put some drums down and filmed it.
In addition to recording drums Gordon gives you some insight to the equipment he uses and how he records with it.
From Gordon McNeil:
The drum kit I am using is a TAMA Star Classic- it’s made in Japan and there is an interesting story about it. In 2005, I bought this drum kit brand new and at the time I was fascinated with the new DW that Neil Peart from Rush used. I sold my new TAMA even though it was only 6 months old to help fund my dream DW that Neil uses. In the back of my mind, I always thought about that TAMA I once owned.
Fast forward to 2017 I saw the very same TAMA drum kit on sale in the UK and it actually turned out to me my very one, so within 5 minutes I went straight out and got it back.
I really hope you enjoy the video It was so much fun to do, I really love the idea of working remotely all over the place it’s really rather exciting!.
