Hi friends, as promised I’m back at Vintage King for the second part of our studio monitor review series.
If you’ve missed our previous review of the high-end studio monitors, you can watch it here.
In today’s review we are checking out 5 different “mid-priced” studio monitors in the $1500-$5000 price range.
All of these monitors are ported, two-way and active:
Finding “perfect studio monitor” is highly subjective and depends on your ears, taste, the room you’re working in and how well your know your speakers. With this video Alex Oana and I want to help you to find the right studio monitors for you: We are giving you an idea of the tonal characteristics of each of these monitors, point out their strengths and what genres of music we believe each they would be best to use in.
I hope you enjoy the review and it helps you to pick a great set of speakers for your home studio!

Great video. Very useful. I have a pair of Adam A7X .. I love them 🙂 and I use Avantones to contrast the mix balances.
Hi @plap-disqus-c75b6f114c23a4d7ea11331e7c00e73c:disqus great stuff! I’m really glad you enjoyed the video! Great to hear you use the Adam A7X’s, you make great music so it’s nice to hear how you monitor! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren
Thanks for a great video. As an A7x user, I will say that the clarity in the high end lends itself well to very accurate acoustic/roots music. I love the detail in my acoustic instruments. Thanks for all you do — just found your videos recently and thoroughly enjoying them. Cheers!
Hi @disqus_YHbKc1NaYo:disqus wonderful! Another Adam’s user! Really glad you enjoy the videos! Glad to be able to help! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren
I couldn’t be more impressed that you responded to my comment. Thank you. Currently listening to mixes of my new record (due in May) that we mixed on Westlakes — different beast altogether. Looking forward to checking out more PLAP stuff. http://www.matthewfoxmusic.com if you’re curious. All the best.
You’re welcome @disqus_YHbKc1NaYo:disqus! Cool, listening to the unreleased demos now! They sound great! I try my best to answer as much as I can. The point of the Academy is to share information freely, we help each other with no egos! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing many thanks Warren
Thanks,Warren. New material will be up soon. Cheers!! I assume you’re US-based now but I tour the UK every fall. I truly appreciate that you respond to fans. No need to respond here. 😉
Hey Warren and Alex, thanks for the great video, really helpful! The only thing i am missing are the new Barefoot Footprints, maybe you can include them in the 3rd video, although they’re more mid priced!?
I use A7X. They are “bang for a buck” here in Europe.
