Oeksound Spiff & Soothe 2
Spiff is an adaptive transient processor that lets you cut or boost transients with great detail. Spiff analyzes the incoming signal and recognizes when and where transients appear adaptively. Its time- and frequency-specific controls let you take charge of your transients, no matter how big or small. Spiff’s unique approach to transients opens up possibilities not usually associated with transient control.
Soothe2 is a dynamic resonance suppressor. It identifies problematic resonances on the fly and applies matching reduction automatically. This results in a smoother, more balanced sound and saves you from having to notch out frequencies by hand. The reduction only kicks in when and where needed, without affecting nearby frequency areas. This preserves the timbre of the original sound source resulting in a transparent treatment with minimal artifacts.

With its versatile cardioid polar pattern, svelte profile, and low weight, the OC16 is easy to position in tight quarters, making it eminently useful for capturing snare drums and other hard-to-reach sources. You’ll notice it doesn’t have a pad — and that’s because it doesn’t need one. This advanced engineering delivers the acclaimed, natural and open-sounding OC sound. Factor in the OC16’s robust build quality and reasonable price tag, and you have another value-packed winner from Austrian Audio.
JZ Microphones V67
The mic, like the V47, is a transformerless FET condenser, with an amplifier circuit that has little in common with the tube-and-transformer design of the U67. This concept follows a recent trend in microphone manufacturing; see, for example, the 3-Zigma CHI system, which provides interchangeable capsules modeled after the U67 and other vintage reference microphones.
