We recently had the wonderful opportunity to sit down with our good friend Trey Xavier from Gear Gods!
You may recognize Trey from his most popular videos like “NAMM 2016 Duallist’s TRIPLE Bass Drum Pedal”, “10 Ways To Improve Your Guitar Tone FOR FREE” or “12 Different Kinds of Power Chords” Gear Gods currently has 152K subscribers and his community is steadily growing!
For those of you who haven’t checked out his Youtube channel yet, I highly recommend doing so! Trey studied music on both coasts, at Berklee College of music and Sonoma State University. – He loves to “Geek Out” in his videos which makes them a lot of fun to watch.

Over the last couple of months I’ve received thousands of comments under our YouTube videos for using the same guitar lick every time I have a guitar in my hands. Today, Trey shared some of his go-to licks that way I can switch it up a bit in future episodes.
Along with the licks Trey shared his go-to pre-show exercises. He says they get him 85% prepared to perform. The Idea behind these exercises is similar to a metronome. You set your pace where you can do it perfectly and then race yourself to improve.
By starting at the bottom of the neck and working your way up you are slowly stretching the your hands by having to reach a little farther each fret you move up.
Trey has been doing these exercises for about 15 years now and recommends that anyone who is a person & plays guitar should get this book that he used to learn these exercises.
