Happy Friday! Hope your week has been marvellous! As always, we have a couple wonderful questions to answer for you today. And we have an exclusive clip from our Berlin Masterclass!
So, let’s get into today’s featured question! “I see many of your videos are either in the box when you’re streaming or hybrid when you’re breaking down your mixes. Which is it? Which do you prefer?”
I honestly like working in a tactile environment, I also like not being at a screen. When we’re at the screen we’re often on headphones and the smaller speakers.
We’ve been embracing the headphone technology and how much we like the Sonarworks and we really enjoy the Waves Abbey Road Studio 3 software and we can now be a little in front of the computer screen.
However, there is nothing better than being able to turn around being between a pair of speakers and reaching for a fader.
It’s not like I sit here writing faders all day writing in tons of automation and stuff like that. I still do that but not as much, these days in the world of hybrid it’s a combination of both those environments.
Many guys and girls who work in a hybrid environment print SSL tracks back into their DAWs then work in the box, but they have used the EQ, compression, and dynamics of the console.
That happens a lot and it makes Recall-ability easy because you can just call up a session and have all of your printed tracks in there. – Very smart indeed.
What I do love is the ability of many guys and girls like Wes Audio who have been nominated this year for a TEC award. We were one of the first people to talk about them.
Our good friends at Tegeler Audio also have that software. What we’re going to do now is show you something that we did in our masterclass. It’s quite long but it will show you what this particular compressor can do. – I will say it’s pretty impressive!
We’re big fans of this company, they’re not paying us to do this, Michael Krusch came down to give us this presentation because we asked them to. Since we were in Berlin and they’re based out of Berlin.

More about Tegeler Audio Schwerkraftmaschine – The Compressor featured in today’s video.
Whether it is about softly compressing the sound, a more harder effect, or responding to complex situations…
There is a program for everything.
Generating a digital control signal offers flexibility that simply cannot be found in analogue equipment.
This makes it possible to emulate the behaviour of any existing compressor.
When you need the Schwerkraftmaschine to work like an Optical Compressor, including the memory effect?
But with the Attack and Release still being adjustable?
It’s a piece of cake!
We cover the following questions during this episode of FAQ Friday!
• I’ve written many songs and have some good recordings of them, how do I go about selling these songs for artists to perform and perhaps use on their albums? (0:28)
• I see many of your videos are either in the box when you’re streaming or hybrid when you’re breaking down your mixes. Which is it? Which do you prefer? (5:56)
