Today I’m sitting here with Nathan from Kali Audio about to take a look at their latest speaker! Ever since I heard the LP-6’s which as you know we love, and use every day; we’ve been talking about a 3-way speaker; and now Kali has the IN8!
I’m excited about this because I’m a big LP-6 fan and I feel like at Kali’s price point of only $299 for the pair, there’s really isn’t anything better. These are a big leap and a nice step up from the LP-6’s. – I really like the idea of the three-way speaker!
Kali’s new 3-way speaker is called the IN8 similar to the LP, Kali has followed tradition in naming their products after towns in California. LP standing for Lone Pine which is a town in the eastern Sierra. IN8 stands for Independence which is the next town north of Lone Pine. – The IN8 is considered to be a step up from the LP’s so the name feels fitting.
The IN8 is 140W split 60W to the woofer, 40W to the tweeter, and 40W to the mid-range. On the back of the IN8 we have descriptions of how the speaker can be placed against a wall or on a console with dip switches available to help restore the speaker to its neutral sound by counteracting the reflections of its surroundings.
The mid-range and tweeter are concentric with each other, which means you don’t have the phase issues that you would get if they were in different places. Since the system has crossed over at 330 Hertz to the woofer, acoustically it’s still a point source.
The IN8 retails for. $399 each, which is still a really good price for a 3-way speaker like this. For what I love about the Lp-6’s, these seems like the next logical step up for me.
So with all that being said have a listen to how great these speakers sound in the full video below!
