While many multiband compressors take a lot of time to set up and tweak, DynOne has been designed with fixed bands so you can mix in the compressed signal. DynOne has min-max values for attack and release, and applies variable timing values depending on whether or not the signal is transient in nature. This new update also makes the plugin slightly less CPU intensive, without sacrificing any quality.
This plugin contains very usable EQ points, which were chosen after over six months of listening to different crossover filters and putting in countless hours of listening and back and forth to choose the points that made the most sense. Although there are already great preset EQ points, in this version of the plugin, you can also change the crossover to any points you need to be at! DynOne’s crossover filters have been custom designed to interact with each other, in order to avoid phase alignment issues between bands.
The DynOne also offers adaptive attack/release timing. The creators felt that having traditional attack and release times did not deliver the best sounding result. When you are working with transients vs. sustained sounds, you will often need different attack and release times, which is why they use min and max attack/release times.
Another great thing about this plugin that I loved was the incredibly easy to use GUI! In this update of the plugin, the GUI is completely resizable, so you can have it set to whatever size you want. All of the controls have also been placed in one panel, so you do not have to switch between tabs anymore, making it much easier to find all the controls you need.
A lot of times when I use complicated EQ compression style plugins, I can hear them working, and I get this halo of sound around the track that I’m working on. There is a lot of saturation and some phase issues between the bands, because you get more phase distortion, especially at the higher frequencies. I do not hear that with this plugin though! The DynOne sounds amazing and does not create those phase issues I have heard with other plugins.
Overall, this plugin is just marvellous and I loved being able to test it out and show you how it works! Watch the full video below to see all the great features the new DynOne has to offer!
